About Us

.

At Summit Swim and Aquatic, our vision is to improve children’s swimming ability, water safety and love for swimming. We want to improve children’s capacity to enjoy life, so that they can safely participate in things like swimming, beach activities, fishing and surfing.

We pride ourselves on our quality team of long-term, qualified swimming instructors, who are all experienced in teaching the vital life skill of swimming, as well as stroke technique. Our instructors are passionate about ensuring you and your family are safe and confident in the water.

Whether you’re interested in Learn to Swim lessons or joining in aqua fitness classes or lap swimming, our team is ready and waiting to provide professional instruction and fabulous service with reliability and consistency.

We’re all about FAMILY, FUN & FITNESS

.

We pride ourselves on being a 100% independent business, owned by a long-term local Lismore family. We love this great city and our local community. We’re woven into the fabric of Lismore - it’s a huge part of who we are and how our business has been shaped.

After running Learn to Swim classes in Lismore for many years, Summit Fitness Centre was established in 2002 with the aim of creating a family-friendly, fun atmosphere combined with quality service. We wanted to have a welcoming feeling and present a safe environment where children love to swim – and we believe we’ve achieved that.

Our long-term team members are fully qualified and committed to their profession. We have the best instructors for Learn to Swim with a great reputation for getting the wonderful results for children in the water.

In 2022, the Summit sold the fitness component of the business, to concentrate on the Swim School and the Aquatic side of the business. The business rebranded to Summit Swim and Aquatic. We have the same commitment to the community that we have had since 2002 and our family welcomes your family to enjoy all that Summit offers.

Your safety is important to us

We care about your health and we prioritise the safety of our Summit family by:

Maintaining consistently high levels of hygiene within the centre

Aiming to exceed the required standard of water quality in our pools

Appreciating the trust you place in us when teaching your child to swim

Our team truly care for you and aim to do the right thing by you

Matt George

Owner Matt George grew up in Lismore, attending Lismore High School and went on to Southern Cross University. He was an active member of the Lismore Swimming Club and worked as a lifeguard at Lismore Baths to pay his way through Uni. Matt started Swimswell Swim School in East Lismore while he was still at Uni, growing the business until he decided to open Summit in 2002. Matt has grown up in the aquatic industry and it’s always been part of who he is.

Jo Beardow

Summit Manager, Jo Beardow, teams up with Matt to take care of the day-to-day running of Summit Swim and Aquatic. Jo has been an integral part of the team since 2007. She has a passion for teaching children to swim and also loves teaching Aqua. Jo does everything she can to ensure that everybody is treated with care and respect. Jo is the proud mum of three “grown-up” children and is highly active in local sport and the wider community.
